A Swedish word list built from two Språkbanken sources: the SAOL 14 faksimil (Svenska Akademiens ordlista) for the headwords, expanded with SALDO Morfologi for the inflected forms. Every entry is playable on an Alfa Kraft board — 2–15 letters, letters only. Prefer base forms only? See the strict list.
What this is
The Swedish word list shipped with Alfa Kraft — every move you play in a Swedish match is checked against it. It is a flat, alphabetically sorted text file where each line is one accepted word.
It is built from two Språkbanken sources. The SAOL 14 faksimil (Svenska Akademiens ordlista, the normative headword list) supplies the base forms, and SALDO Morfologi supplies the inflection paradigms — so the standard list also includes inflected forms like springer and sprang, not just springa. If you want base forms only, the strict list (Svenska (strikt)) ships the SAOL 14 headwords on their own, without the SALDO inflections.
Only words in the Swedish alphabet [a-zåäö], 2–15 letters, with no spaces, digits, or hyphens survive into the final word list. Proper nouns and abbreviations are dropped. The build is deterministic — the same inputs always produce the same output.
Sources & credit
Two sources, both from Språkbanken (University of Gothenburg):
- SAOL 14 (faksimil) — Svenska Akademiens ordlista, from Språkbanken’s SAOL 14 faksimil — the headwords (base forms).
- SALDO Morfologi — from Språkbanken Text — the inflection paradigms expanding each headword into its inflected forms.
